    trying to install xp pro

    everything in the installation goes fine till It reaches the "installation of windows". The error reads
    "sxs.dll:syntax error in manifest or policy file e:\i386\asms\6000\msft\windows\common\controls\con trols.man" on line 0
    Manifest Parse error

    A) Did you actually buy XP?

    B) This is still in the text-based blue screen setup portion?

      Ofcourse I didn't buy it.

      It's amidst installing, not letting continue without that file.

      Everytime I manually reboot it goes back to installing.

      If there is not solution, whats the MS_DOS command to reformat and just get rid of this crap that keeps trying to install.

        Fixed:


        Controls.man file was corrupted.


        Took WinXP Cd, put it on HD, replaced corrupted file with clean version, burned the directory on cd, voila

          Ah, you used the ole "copy to HD, replace bad file and burn to disk" trick. gg
