my key (which had been twisting and bending) broke off in the ignition of my 1991 camry, creating 200 bucks in repair cost to get a new ignition. now i have two keys (one for the ignition and one for the doors) which is really annoying and im down 200 bucks. if your keys are fucked up get new ones, avoid my fate!

You can always have an electronic lock installed for a little more. My friend did it to his 1990 piece of crap, but it works beautifully.

EDIT: just realized you said ignition, but in case your key breaks off your cardoor, refer to above.

You probably should have gotten a copy when it came close to breaking off... and in the ignition, you gotta be pulling towards instead of out to have it break off like that (unless it was while you were starting up the car, which means the key was pretty bent and weak prior to stating up the car).

Are you saying that originally you only had one key for both? 'Cause my sweer-ass '93 Buick Skylark has two separate keys, which kind of bothers me (but at the same time in the winter, I kept them separate so I could keep the car warming while it's still locked). But my normal car has one key for both, which really is nice, since I'm more used to that then my winter car... But, you get used to it... Except with the Buick the keys go in flat-part facing up, which I hate.

I broke my key off in my ignition before, but I was able to get the broken key out with a paper clip so I didn't have to replace it.

My 85' Buick Regal is older than I am. Once I start it, I can just pull the key out of the ignition and it still runs. The nice thing about it is the sheetmetal paneling 'cus it makes a great tank when I go paintballing

Our old 1980 something corolla had two keys to it...although we weren't down $200 because of it. Also our 90 big red Astro Van had two keys...I'm glad someone woke up to change things
