  • TWDT HOT OR NOT -- WEEK 5

    TWDT-D

    Power vs. Kusoge
    50-29

The Powergonians made short work of Kusoge, who were booted out faster than someone ordering Nagasaki with nuclear sauce at a sushi place, with Iron Survivor (14-5), Ease (11-2), and Racka (13-5) looking like agile tuna, with pieces of rice Steadman (1-6) and Zidane (2-3) chipping in, and Seaweedknight (9-8) wrapping around to complete the entrée.

On the losing side, last week's Hot of the Week Ricko (7-10) had his first negative performance of the season, with only Bueno (9-10) nearing parity, and Kentaro (6-10), TheWadoRooster (4-10) and Geisha (2-7) all negging alongside them.

HOT: Iron Survivor, with a 14-5 performance that would have made BrokenFist proud.
NOT: Geisha, with a god-awful 2-7. LF says he's "still connected to (one of the few) only good looking girls to play tw", maybe he can give you tips on abusing enemy 5/6s, since he's an expert at poaching low hanging fruit.

    Sour Milk vs. Oblivion
    50-34

Sour Milk shot up Oblivion behind a stellar outing from Skepsis (19-7), who led siaxis (9-9), cres (9-7), Bonghits (7-7), and Rab (6-4) to the W.

The Oblivionites all took arrows to the knee, as Zeebu (8-10), Zavik (7-10), CrimsonX (8-10), BIET (8-10) and Clue 1525 (1-8) all negged.

The Splash Bros of Skepsis and Siaxis combined for 28, almost more than the entire enemy team combined! Haven't seen siblings this good at killing since the Menendez brothers.

HOT: Skepsis (19-7), with a dominant performance.
    NOT: Clue 1525 (1-8)

    ---

    dun vs me vs. Unleash
    50-45

This was a hotly contested match as the dunvsmeans narrowly edged out The Unleashed by five, as Hulk's squad put out a balanced performance amongst Weak (13-9), turban (13-9), Kate upton (10-8), hulk (10-9) and Henry Saari (4-10).

Unleash also had evenly distributed contributions from Geio (12-10), who was returning from a ban this week, alongside Last Standing (10-10), wbm (10-10), Riverside (5-9), Casket (3-1), and Dutch Baser (5-10), but just fell short.

HOT: Weak, with a sublime 13-9, who led the dunvsmeans alongside turban!
NOT: Riverside, with a disappointing 5-9 in his debut. Haven't been this disappointed since Shayde became a French mime the day before Thunder's A Cappella regional finals.

    ---

    Tool vs. Kamikaze
    50-43

Another tough match, where warbirding powerhouse Tool managed to once against dismantle their opponent in the final minutes, behind a stellar performance from Tripin (16-6), who made me eat my words from last week by leading his squad to victory.

Apok (12-9) has been a beast for the Tooltimers all season, with solid showing from aprix (11-8) and 24 (9-10), with 5-Star Lee in tow, coming down from his impressive performance last week.

For the Kamikazeans, M_M God (12-10), maketso (11-10), and Stayon (10-10) were solid, but a subdued performance from their wb star Auger (8-10) and a sub-par one from Markmrw (2-10) sealed the deal.

HOT: Tripin, with a sizzling 16-6
NOT: Markmrw, who needs to be putting up at least 5-6 kills a game to carry his weight as a 5-Star. Haven't seen anyone carry their weight so poorly since claushouse got stuck down a chimney... of a KFC... in September...

    TWDT-J

    Oblivion vs. Unleash
    50-34

Oblivion demolished Commodo's Unleash as Zazerick (15-7) went raging bull, as he, Wax (11-5), 6-star superstar Frightful (9-5), Rendered (9-8), and Reckful (6-9) took them to town.

b-rabbit (11-10) continued his strong play from last week, but couldn't carry Last Standing (7-10), Dutch Baser (6-10), Mighty (3-6), Commodo (2-4) or TJ Hazuki (2-10).

HOT: Zazerick, with a mesmerizing 15-7 in his Oblivionite debut.
NOT: TJ Hazuki, with a breathtaking 2-10, in that someone should take his breath away by shoving him out an airlock for being capable of such a terrible performance.

    ---

    Sour Milk vs. Kamikaze
    50-32

diakka (14-5) led the foray for Sour Milk across the jav map with a sumptuous outing, as Noobius (11-4), siaxis (12-10), Mikkiz (7-9) and Rab (3-4) provided support.

The Kamikazeans had strong showings from Auger (13-10) and Singer (10-10), but bad play from maketso (4-7), Beng (2-6), markmrw (2-10), and a late sub from Stayon (0-4) did nothing to ameliorate the situation.

HOT: diakka, with a riveting 14-5
NOT: Beng/Stayon, with a ribbiting 2-10, in that I haven't seen anyone die out and give up this quickly since the French broke at the Maginot Line

    ---

    Kusoge vs. Tool
    50-42

The bad gamers continued their strong jav play with another well fought W, edging past Tool for the win.

Big Daddy Dreamwin (14-8) redeemed himself after last week's horrendous dtj performance, carrying the load with a great game from Undercut (15-10) and able play from Bueno (12-6), who's proving himself an invaluable asset.

Speaking of invaluable assets, Audrey's rear.

The Tooltimers fell despite good scores from 24 (13-10) and day-of acquisition Spawnisen (11-10), as Tripin (7-10), megaman89 (6-10), and Lee (2-10) failed to make an impact.

HOT: Undercut, with an interstellar 15-10 as a 6-Star. Kudos!
NOT: megaman89. Expect way more out of this TWLJ Legend in ship #2. On the subject of #2s... Lee's score.

    ---

    Power vs. dun vs me
    50-43

Tsunami (13-8) made (what I believe is) his debut in TWDT today with a strong show of force, leading Ease (12-7), Zidane (12-8), Iron Survivor (10-10), and Shaddowknight (2-10) to the W.

turban (15-10) kept it close in a strong pairing with Hulk (12-10), but Kate Upton (4-10) and Henry Saari (2-10) were too heavy, as Weak (8-10) played just below parity in this tight matchup.

HOT: Tsunami, returning from inactivity with a solid 13-8 to lead the team.
NOT: Kate Upton, with an abysmal 4-10, who, like his namesake's bra, couldn't handle the load.

    TWDT-B

    Kamikaze vs. Unleash
    15:00-1:20

Kamikaze, even without its captain present, decimated Unleash in a massacre not seen since Dewey Decimal murdered Daniel Fahrenheit's entire family in a cabin while gleefully reciting Robert Frost's Stopping by Woods on a Snow Evening ("And Kilometers to go before I sleep, And kilometers to go before I sleep.")

Big Beng (65-20) led the Kami, as the 6-star fought alongside Stayon (69-20, 6 teks), El Pedo (61-15), Trance (56-17), Markmrw (43-21), with sharking from DOWNFALL (2.8 RPD) and a ridiculous 3.3 RPD from Vatican Assassin, with able terring from draft (12-1).

Unleash had TJ Hazuki (48-44), WBM (46-37), Last Standing (23-33), and an ugly mix of Beasty, Commodo, Geio, and Oder in shark, while inexplicably leaving veteran shark WAR on the bench... I can't even tell who terred from the scoreline, maybe Mighty (16-17) or b.rabbit (14-16)?

HOT: Beng! With a nice 65-20, nice work!
NOT: All of unleash. It's a bd, not musical chairs, put Oder in terr, and Commodo/WAR in shark, WBM/TJ/Sphinx as your two 7-star spids, then round out the other 3 with your 6/6/5s and stick them under. It's a good thing breathing is an autonomous function. Just in general, that's a good thing.

    Tool vs. Oblivion
    15:00-13:34

Tool shocked the TWDT basing world by notching their first DTB win of the season over basing powerhouse Oblivion, with a wonderfully concerted effort.

gilder (98-41), Mean Gene (88-41), Lee (81-37), and slum (66-52) spidered for Tool, with megaman89 (93-54) notching 5 teks in jav, behind makeshift sharking from 24 (2.6 RPD) and Zizzo (2.8 RPD), and fantastic terring from warportal (49-7, 4 teks).

For Oblivion, cripple (108-57), auto (83-53), shayde (73-61), Reckful (65-54), and FATE (63-55) spidered behind nokkonen (2. RPD) and porkjet (2.8 RPD), with Pressure (32-9, 1 tek) in terr.

This was a close and exciting match, with a thrilling finish.

HOT: 24 and Zizzo, as the unlikely duo sharked a ragtag band of non-basers to victory over the juggernaut
    HOT: warportal, with a red-hot 47-9 as a 6-star terr, and a massive 4 teks
NOT: nokkonen and porkjet, for not bullying 24 and zizzo with 5v4 in spid including cripple and shayde and not doing enough to stop a rusty mega from 5 teks in jav. Haven't seen this little bullying since 21 Jump Street.

    dun vs me vs. Kusoge
    15:00-11:55

The dunvsmeans continued their assault on DTB, after their only loss of the season to Power last week, beating out a recalcitrant Kusoge for the win.

Mythril (2.9 RPD) and Hulk (2.0 RPD) sharked the winners ahead of Turban (49-6, 2 teks) in terr, with Kate Upton (127-35), Jatt (89-44), Davy (84-59), Johnno (59-89) and Henry Saari, with an impressive 4 teks undering, in spider.

For Kusoge, mcvicar (2.9 RPD) and sprained (2.8 RPD) took up ship #8, with dreamwin (35-11) in terr, and spidering from Undercut (86-68), Bueno (81-56), TheWadoRooster (75-52), a lame ass macro (67-98), and Ricko (68-59).

HOT: Turban, with an impressive 49-6 in terr with 2 teks. Nice job!
NOT: a lame ass macro, with a 67-98. You went -1 for every day of the month, like an advent calendar celebrating the birth of Christ. And like Jesus, your teammates are praying you won't show up again 'til Easter.

    Sour Milk vs Power
    15:00-14:19

This was a real nail-biter, as Sour Milk edged out Power by 41 seconds in a TWDT-B classic.

Mikkiz (44-14, 3 teks) was rocky in terr, as Ease (105-66, 6 teks) in wb started to get the better of him near the end of the game, but managed to hold on behind Bonghits (2.9 RPD) and Cranium/Knockers (2.8 RPD), with strong spidering from diakka (122-65), leading Rab (94-80), GOLFER (80-72), and Noobius (99-63, 3 teks) in wb.

Shaddowknight (25-10, 2 teks) played well most of the game, but unfortunately darted prematurely for the flag solo with despite Sour Milk still needing 40 seconds to win and dying to 6 enemy players, ending the game, behind sharking from Zidane (2.9 RPD) and Rodney (3.0 RPD), with spidering from Clausy (108-68), paradise (108-76), Solacer (104-52), Wazzaa.NL (90-52) and bwp.

HOT: Diakka, with 122-65 in spider
NOT: Shaddowknight, with an ill-advised dive for the flag to end the game. Let's see where that falls on the Dive-o-meter!

WB of the Week: Skepsis, with a scorching 19-7 in warbird, wowza!
Jav of the Week: Undercut, with a fantastic 15-10 against a tough jav squad as a 6-star, holy moly!
Baser of the Week: warportal, with a torrential 47-9 and 3 teks in terrier, gadzuks!

Player of the Week: diakka, helping lead Sour Milk to a perfect 3-0 this week, with a 122-65 in a 15-14 basing match and a 14-5 in jav. Kudos! Haven't seen that much two-pronged dominance since I watched Redtube 15 minutes ago.

  • #2

Sour Milk notched the only perfect 3-0 this week, their 2nd in three weeks (bookending an abysmal 0-3 last week), to jump into 5th place.

Dun vs Me went 2-1 to regain sole possession of the #2 spot, with wins in javelin and base, while Power also went 2-1, narrowly dropping a 15-14 basing game against Sour Milk, and maintaining their lead in the standings whilst remaining undefeated in wb.

Tool has steadily risen the ranks, going 2-1 for the third consecutive week and moving into a tie for 3rd. Kusoge clinched a jav match, going 1-2 and staying tied for that #5 with freshly minted Sour Milk.

Kamikaze stayed a perfect 5-0 in base this week, as their only win keeps them at #3 in the rankings, alongside Tool.

Oblivion won their third jav match to take sole possession of 7th, while Unleash unfortunately lost all three, dropping to 8th, as both teams are now 2 and 3 games behind a playoff spot, respectively, with two weeks of play to go.
