As far as I can see; Lampard, Scholes and Rooney do basically the same thing. There's no point playing all of them. On current form, keep Lampard and drop Scholes. Gerrard must play in the middle and give him the captaincy ahead of Beckam.

If Sven cocks it up for us again this time, I'm boycotting all things Swedish. Except porn and Abba, not sure what that leaves.

Lampard can not play the holding role at the moment, but I'm sure he can adapt to it, since he is thirty times the player as nicky butt (who I might add is second to emile heskey in the most overrated footballers in the world, ever)

Nice to see Michael Owen getting a goal. But we really need to sort our left hand side out, there is no real fluency, and almost everytime it comes to our left, Gerrard simply switches it to Mr. Beckham, who worked well with Gary Neville, although Beckham did have a bad game, apparently he has a niggling ankle injury. If I were Sven, I'd stick wayne bridge in front of Ashley Cole and play him as a LWB or a LM, or bring Aston Villa's very own Gareth Barry (excuse my bias), of course you can swap Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole. Or even bring Jamie Charragher, I think hes a good full back, hes always running in places where he has to be, even if the ball isnt going to go there he covers it, because if he didnt, there would be clear holes in the defence.

As for the defence, it's clear Sol and Terry need to work better together,

Gareth Southgate is one of the best defenders England have at the moment, he's experienced, he's one of the greatest tacklers, his positioning is phenominal and it doesn't look like age is catching up with him. Plus he's one of the nicest guys in football so we need him in the dressing room at least. He missed a penalty, all the fucking fair weather football fans who claim to know so much about it and then proceed to talk bullshit when it comes to tactics and whatever then went and villified him for it. You try taking a fucking penalty against an international goalkeeper with 50 million people watching you. If Gareth Southgate was Scottish then they might stand a chance of actually winning something.

The Japan result was nothing. We always do shit in the warm up games and then do fairly well in competitive games, we always have done and always will do. These guys haven't played in about three weeks and this result will serve as a wake up call to pull their finger out. As for the tactics Sven said before the match that this will be the biggest indicator of what formation and team he will be playing in the summer. Thats bullshit, any manager who tells his opponents who will be playing and where a fortnight before the game needs their P45, he was experimenting especially with the Lampard role. I think Sven should play Lampard when he has the luxury of playing against weaker competition, such as Croatia where he doesn't have to be defensive. Lampard was instructed to play in the holding role but due to the nature of the player he'll always venture forward and so at times we were playing with four across the midfield instead of Sven's much vaunted diamond. When it comes to the big games Sven will play Nicky Butt, he's a much more defensive player and we need to have some cover in front of the defence to try and break up the attacks as they happen, something Frank Lampard won't do because he isn't that player. And lets not forget Butt was the English (and possibly THE) player of the tournament at the last world cup.

Sven also needs a slap upside the head for putting Wayne Bridge on the bench. We have NO natural left-sided midfielders... except Cole and Bridge, so why the hell is one of them on the bench while the other is in defence? We should have Wayne Bridge as left-back and Ashley Cole at left-midfield. This was tried at one of our friendlies last year, I forget which one - it might have been Liechenstein - and it wasn't a resounding success, but the team wasn't a resounding success. Both players can succeed in both roles and they will if Sven will so being so fucking stubborn and start being a bit more flexible. We won the world cup in 1966 with a midfield that had no winger, no attacking midfielders and no defensive midfielders. The four players kept changing roles throughout the match and as this had never happened before the opposition had no idea who to mark and were constantly being pulled out of position, allowing Jimmy Greaves to run between the back four and knock them in.
