My computer's fucked. Now whenever I install something it automatically starts the new program up on startup, how do I choose which programs load on startup? Also it has created a new account called 'user' that you have to log in to when you boot the computer upand when you turn off a screensaver, how do you get rid of this function so it just turns on without any hassle?

    For the startup problem:

Two things you can do. First is to go to your start menu and then programs and look in the "Startup" folder. If there is anything in there you can erase or move it out and it won't start when Windows logs on.

Better way to handle it, however, is to go to your start menu, click on "Run.." and in the run box type msconfig and drift over to the right end of tabs and I think there is a startup tab or services tab. Go to one of those and it will let you check and uncheck boxes in the items you want to let startup. Typicaly.. most of those things do NOT need to start for your computer to start but I would be very careful in turning startup items off if you aren't sure what they are. If unsure, just type the last end of the file name into a google search and it should tell you what the file does.

    For the other shit:

If you have system restore you might want to try using that and restore to a date before this started happening. ALSO check for spyware and viruses because this sounds unusual and Windows certainly wouldn't have done this on it's own. If you choose NOT to try the system restore then it sounds like the other account (user) may be an administrator account.. you could try erasing that account or your normal account (whichever one is messed up more). You can alter the users option in your control panel, users. IF the other user account isn't listed in there then I'm sure it's some sort of virus or something else you don't want on your computer.

Also did you try installing any new programs or try upgrading or reinstalling Windows recently?

For the screensaver problem, go to your display settings (right click on desktop -> properties), screensaver tab, and there should be a tickbox for "on resume display welcome screen", untick it.

For the log-in on boot problem, go to "user accounts" in the control panel (you may have to switch to classic control panel), and fiddle around in there, it's different on mine cause there's many accounts, but somewhere I think there is an option to auto-log in (maybe to disable welcome screen or something).

Good point with the screensaver, I totally blanked out on the fact that it would go back to the welcome screen if you had that box checked. oops.

You can control all of your local users by using lusrmgr.msc.

            Start>Run>lusrmgr.msc

Select the User tab on the left to see built in and custom users on your system. Here you can do many good things to modify account power and access levels.
