  • Trench Wars Tutorial

I am working on a tutorial arena with Turban, and will be using this space to update my writing as I complete it. There is so much to write I will not be able to fit it all into one post, but I will try my best to keep it all close together for you guys to evaluate and fix as you see fit. Lets keep this constructive and on point. (MATERIAL IS IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER AS OF YET)

    The Ships Of Trenchwars
WARBIRD –(The Dueler) The Warbird was often considered to be the bread-and-butter ship of SubSpace. It has an effective combination of speed, agility, energy recharge, and firepower that satisfies newbies and veterans alike. It is generally the ship of choice for those just starting the game, because of its maneuverability. Beyond that, however, it possesses no special abilities.
JAVELIN – (Tactical Bombing) Much like the Warbird, the Javelin does not possess much special abilities. It is, however, equipped with X-Radar to reveal those sneaky weasels. The javelin comes equipped with weak bullets for rear defense, and a bomb that will bounce off walls one time before exploding on contact with whatever it hits next. It is much less manueverable than the warbird, but provides a great deal of help to its team when utilized properly.
SPIDER – (Front Line Assault) Again, much like the warbird, this ship does not come with any special additions. How it differs is that it can deliver a punishing stream of weaker bullets, as compared to the “pop n stop” style of the Warbird. The Spider is the ship of choice in an enclosed environment with lots of enemies. It is also the only ship that can purchase antiwarp. (More on this in chapter X)
LEVIATHAN – (The Bouncer) This ship is just like every bouncer you’ve ever seen on television. Big, slow, and packs a really hard punch. This ship looks meaty, and comes fully loaded with the strongest bombs in the game. One well positioned shot can wipe out an entire team (or 2) simultaneously. The power balances out the extremely poor manueverability, as the Leviathan is the slowest moving/turning ship in the game, but even more powerful when attached to a TERRIER. The Levi also come with a fair share of gadgets including REPELS, PORTALS and ROCKETS (Each Extra Will Be Described In Chapter Y)
TERRIER – (The Lifeline) In Trenchwars, the Terrier is the foundation of any team, as it is the only ship that teammates can attach to. It is the fastest ship in the game, but leaves much to be desired in terms of offensive prowess. A Terriers job is to stay alive as long as possible so his/her team can annihilate the other team. The Terr starts with 1 portal, and 1 burst, and is the only ship that starts with X-Radar every life, thus claiming the responsibilty of dispatching them and/or alerting the team to their presence.
WEASEL – (Silent But Deadly) Also known as the X, the Weasel is the only ship that can fully conceal itself from its enemies (Except those with X-Radar). It is a slow moving ship, but comes with 1 hit, 1 kill bullets, and a generous amount of tools for a hasty escape following an assassination. Be weary, shooting will reveal your position to your enemies, so make each shot count!
LANCASTER – (Shotgunner) The Lancaster (Lanc) comes with a generous supply of energy, allowing it to fire up to 3 double shots before having to stop to recharge. It is also an effective weapon in open space, as it often comes equipped with the ability to shoot a wider spread of 4 bullets, making it a worthy opponent that is difficult to dodge. It also occasionally starts with X-radar.
SHARK – (Get Outta My House!) The shark’s sole purpose it to REPEL enemy fire away from his/her team, and sometimes even back towards the enemy themselves. The Shark starts with 3 repels each life, and can also be a very potent threat with its EMP bombs/mines. The mines (stationary bombs) will kill any opponent that dares to travel over them, and severely weaken any other ship that is nearby during the explosion, preventing them from recharging for a short period of time. The shark, also, occasionally starts with X-Radar.

I would advise against having an arena full of text. New players aren't going to come to an older game to read a novel on how to play. I'm not saying give up, I'm just suggesting you don't do that. Try a different approach, something like an arena with an interactive bot that shows you how to do things. "Press CTRL to shoot. Try it now." "Good!" *warps to next area, describes what the flag is* "Touch the flag to claim the base for your team." "Good!" etc.

easily doable. I would want to do something similar to Death Star Battles tutorial arena, now that's what I call a good arena. :fear:

just need to start writing things, I've figured out (with the help of Unliked) how to make some sexy looking lvz files.

i agree with xog here, that wall of text doesn't look inviting one bit, and ship-explanations have been done many times before.. also a lot better.. i mean, the way you describe ships doesn't make anything clear. if you'd ask anyone what's special about the wb you'll get '1 shot kill', but you rather talk about 'effective' energy recharge, speed, agility and firepower' and 'it satisfies both newbies and veterans', even i wouldn't know u were talking about the wb here. terr + shark descriptions seem okay.

anyway that doesn't really matter. tutorial shouldn't be about text, or explaining different ships in words.. no one wants to read that, and new players will have no clue what u mean anyway.

like i said i agree with xog a tutorial is about giving new players a QUICK run-through on the gameplay, so they don't run around frustrated about how to shoot or wondering what the hell is going on. so u need to tell them to DO certain stuff so they 'pass' their tutorial.
        tutorial level 1:
tell player to enter in ship 1, tell him how to maneuver + thrust, tell him how to shoot bullets (cntrl)
tell player to change to ship 2, tell him how to shoot bombs (tab)
tell player to change to ship 5, tell him to fly up into the base and claim the flag (blue = enemy, yellow = yours). tell player to place a portal shift+insert, tell him to put insert again, to warp. maybe tell him to burst.
tell player to change to ship 8, tell him to repel / mine.
(bit more difficult to make perhaps, needs a bot in terr in the arena): tell player to change to ship 1, and scroll to the <insert botname> and explain how to attach to it.
        tutorial level 2:
tell player that there are many different arenas which come with different maps/gamestyles. explain how to change arenas (esc+a), tell them to scroll to a certain arena and go there (this should be next tutorial arena). i'd suggest an elim-style map.
tell about the radar, and what the yellow/blue dots are. tell them to enter as ship 1, and to kill a blue ship.
probably should end it there, and tell the player about the possibilities that he has: pub (free-for-all dueling + protect the flag), elims (dueling for ship 1/2), and encourage new players to quickly join a TWD squad (insert twd-squads that are trying to help new players) to benefit from further assistance from experienced players and to get the most fun out of the game.

and like xog said, after a player does what u (well a bot, or w/e) told him to do, it should give a message like 'good job' and then 'next: blalblabla') etc. etc. this is how tutorials work, giving a wall of text makes ppl hit CNTRL ALT DEL as quickly as they can. :P

no tutorial has ever made a player good at a game. but it should give him a little knowhow of what's going on so he might stick around and try to get control over the gameplay. if u enter a game and don't even have a clue wtf is going on, and the first 5-15min u just keep dying and dying, it's a pretty normal reaction to just leave and move on to the next free game.

it's clear to see A LOT of new players enter the game each day, about 10-15 a day it seems, if we get 5-10% to stick around each week, that would already give a big increase within a month.

i thank turban and everyone else who are voluntarily making it their job to just contact the 'green dots' to get them to stick around. i remember when i started playing i had Roxy and some other people voluntarily help me with all the commands, tell me about the different arenas, how to create chats and all that. i probably wouldn't have stayed around for weeks if i had to figure it out on my own as a 12 year old kid with not much patience.

staff should bring back ZHs and make it THEIR job to spot new players and help them (instead of waiting for a help call to pass it onto to auto-reply by robohelp). arobas+ made it incredibly easy to spot them, so why not?

/useless rant (i know nothing will ever be done, unless arobas+ finds a way to clone himself maybe)
(i'm just the observer with good ideas, don't expect me to do fuck-all of course. )

(ARGH WHY DOES IT ALWAYS MAKE MY TEXT LOOK LIKE IT WAS WRITTEN BY ARA?~?! NORMAL OUTLINING PLZz)
(ok hitting edit did the trick? really? why?)

I like how in EG there's an LVZ image that pops up on your screen when you enter the pub. This could be done for TW, but having it display "Want to learn how to play? Type "?go tutorial" and hit Enter!" for 5 seconds if that system is created would be undoubtedly attractive.

Actually it is possible to code a bot to private message a new player and tell them about a tutorial arena or even give that player an *objon (image) that would tell him/her about the tutorial arena. There's a small problem with the objon thing, though -- they have to had downloaded the map before they can see it, so if they never return after ESC+Qing, then it's a shame.

What a tutorial arena needs is..

            - introducing them to Trench Wars and telling the purpose of the tutorial arena.
            - basic mechanism of play in the game, such as moving, using afterburners, changing to another ship and shooting bombs/bullets. simple explanations will do, such as use LEFT and RIGHT to turn and UP and DOWN to accelerate/decelerate.
            - introducing public arenas (what's the goal and purpose) and other subarenas such as elimination, hosted events and how to change arenas.
            - how different items work and how to use them, such as bricks, repels, thors and decoys. also explaining on the same page about stealth, x-radar, cloak, antiwarp, bullets and bombs.
            - special tiles in the game (walls, safe tiles, wormholes (gravity) and such things)
            - explain the display (what is energy, frequency, flags and bounty, and what do those mean?)
            - player list/statistics window (F2) and explain what the points, rating and different things work. could even tell how to spectate another player, and about all the different windows that F2 has.
            - more advanced things, such as explaning bomb/bullet levels (1 to 4), afterburners, attaching to other players.
            - different chats in the game, such team chat (// or '), public chat (nothing, just talk in blue), private chat (private messages), squad chat (; / ;X and moderator messages/warnings.
            - basic commands in the game, such as ?ignore, ?usage, ?lag, ?squadjoin
            - different bots, what kind of bots are there and how to use them.
            - how to create macros, save them and load them.
            - hosted events and automated events.
            - different leagues in this zone.

and I'm sure I missed something there too.. such as how radar works, what are the blue/yellow dots, the blinking white dot and the blinking red/yellow dots, how to open the "MAP" (ALT) etc -- and about bounce, emp bombs/mines and so on of course while we're at it.

            start writing! :fear:

Bear in mind I did those descriptions at 4AM my time. Reading through them now I can see a few typos/misrepresentations, and will fix them. I never intended for this "Wall of text" to be the whole tutorial, but I would like to incorporate these descriptions into the tutorial bot so that the players can learn about them if they desire with simple commands such as "!whatis warbird" or "!whatis repel". I agree wholeheartedly that it should be a LEARN BY DOING tutorial done with a personable bot on a step by step basis. So I will take this constructive criticism and run with it. I will hold off on my descriptions of everything and start working on specific basic functions in our zone e.g. Getting flag, Attaching to the terr, shooting bullets/bombs, etc....and leave the strategy part to figure out for themselves as they play. Maybe some of you can recommend specific purposes of each ship for me to emphasize so I do not leave anything out.

Also, several newbies on my squad assume I am a staff member after I recruit them because I have been spending several hours with them teaching them how to switch arenas, sign up for twd, showing them things they never knew about the ships, etc. I even accidentally caught a triple squadder because he didn't know it was against the rules, and somebody told him it was ok. (Don't worry, I fixed it) Perhaps staff should actually consider bringing back the ZH for the captains of squads like mine so they can answer these questions as they are asked. Granted I have no desire to be associated with staff the way it is now, and would not accept such an invitation, but plenty of other people would be great for it. (ffe, fludd, infrared, struck, whoever else is helping with these squads) Food for thought

I'll type up a complete run-down for the interactive TutorialBot when I get out of work.. it'll have everything it will ever need.. just give it a few more hours. The run-down will be so complete that the bot maker will barely have to do any work.

Heh, I've been thinking about something like this for a few months now, and I'm sure it's been thought of way before that too.

I guess I was suffering from the Staff Virus, and just got completely lazy and never did it.

                    /sarcasm off

Anyways, I'm almost done typing this up. It's pretty freakin huge. Probably going to need a couple posts for it.

Alright guys, I’m finally done. I know it looks like a LOT for a tutorial just reading the post, but believe me, it’s ALL interactive and doesn’t take any longer than 5 minutes or so. It’s VERY fast and FULLY informative.

                      Warp Locations
                      Phase 1: Warp 1, Warp 2, Warp 3, Warp 4, etc.
                      Phase 2:
                      Phase 3:
                      Phase 4:
                      Phase 5:
                      Etc.

Reward Notification List (RNL): Great Job! , Terrific. , Excellent! , Perfect! , Awesome! , Very good. , Fantastic!
Have the bot choose randomly from this list for each reward notification

Send a private message to people who enter the arena: “Welcome to the Tutorial Arena! Type “:TutorialBot:!start” to begin.

Player is given a value to be saved to a certain warp point type (Warp point 1 value will send the player to Warp Point 1 in each phase, Warp point 2 will go to Warp point 2 in each phase, etc.) The player’s value is matched up with a Warp #’s set. For instance, Phase 1 will have you warp to a certain environment, whether it’s surrounded by asteroids or inside a flagroom, much like how Warbird, Javelin and Spider have their specific warpto spots in ?go duel.

The spawn point of the arena is in an enclosed safe zone.

                      !help
+!start - Starts the tutorial from Lesson 1
                      +!tutlist - Lists each tutorial (1 - 8 for ships 1-8, and 9 for Flag)
+!tut 1 through 9 - Choose what tutorial you want to begin from.
+!skip - Skips the current ship’s tutorial that you're on.
+!return - Return to the tutorial you left off on.
+!WhereAmI - Displays what tutorial you were last doing.

                      !start
+PM: I see you are ready to begin! First things first, to respond to a private message quickly, type the : button twice. This will private message the last person that private messaged you. Let’s start, shall we? Press ESC and view the top of your screen. Select which ship you would like to be in, other than spectator mode.
Check if player has entered any ship 1-8. When player has entered, send
+PM: RNL Type ::!go and I will place you in the ship that you’ll begin your training in.
+PM: Keep in mind you can skip certain ship’s tutorials if you feel you understand them already. +PM: This whole tutorial shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes! Private Message me with !skip to skip the current ship’s tutorial.

                      Phase 1
                      !go
                      *lock player
Separate this into a few PMs
Part 1) RNL Also note that you can cycle through a few amounts of players that last PM’d you by continuously adding a : button. So if a player were to private message you after I did, and you want to message me again, you would type :::Hey bot!
                      +setship 1
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 1
Part 2) The first thing I want you to do now that you’re in your ship, is to shoot a bullet. To shoot a bullet, press the CTRL button. You are now in a Warbird.
+Detect if player has shot a bullet. If after 10 seconds the player does not shoot a bullet, send
++PM: Hey you! Did you change your keybindings? If you did, press the button you assigned for Shoot Bullet.
Else, RNL Congratulations. Now on to the next part, shooting bombs!

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 2

                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 2
++PM: You are now in a Javelin, ship 2. To shoot a bomb, press the TAB button. The bombs in this ship will bounce off of walls ONE time, the next impact it makes will explode. Bombs never bounce off of enemies.
                      ++PM: Shoot a bomb.
++PM: Something to note, on the right-hand side of your screen you’ll notice a couple of new icons. The 2nd icon from the top indicates can shoot bombs. The top icon indicates you can shoot bullets.
+Detect if player has shot a bomb. If after 10 seconds the player does not shoot a bomb, send
++PM: Hey you! Did you change your keybindings? If you did, press the button you assigned for Shoot Bomb.
                      Else, send
++PM: Next I’ll show you how to use your ROCKETS. Look at the left side of your screen, you’ll notice an item blinking on and off.
                      +degrant Rockets for player
                      Wait .5 seconds
                      +grant Rockets for player
                      Wait .5 seconds
                      +degrant Rockets for player.
                      Wait .5 seconds
                      +grant Rockets for player.
++PM: See it? To activate this rocket, press the F3 button on the top left of your keyboard. Watch how fast you’ll go! It only lasts for a few seconds, so use it wisely!
                      Wait 5 seconds
                      ++PM: Having fun?
                      Wait 5 seconds
++PM: RNL You’re doing great. Now I’m going to teach you the Spider, ship 3.

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 3
                      +Setship 3
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 3
++PM: In this ship, you have what’s called “Level 1” bullets, or “L1”. These bullets are commonly red, and do less damage than higher levels. For instance, the warbird has 1-shot kills because it has Level 3 bullets, which are blue. The Lancaster ship (7) has L2 bullets, which are yellow. The same color gradient follows suit for bombs as well. The lower the level, the less energy it takes to shoot.
++PM: Shoot a bullet in this ship (CTRL). You’ll notice your ENERGY BAR (top of your screen) did not completely go down.
+Check if player shot a bullet. If not, follow suit with the previous messages for not shooting after 10 seconds.
                      Else,
++PM: Alright, next, shoot more than one bullet. Try holding down your CTRL button until your energy is gone.
+Check if player’s energy is less than 500.
++PM: RNL Keep up the great work, I might have a surprise for you at the end! I’m going to teach you about the Leviathan next.

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 4
                      +setship 4
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 4
++PM: You’re now in a Leviathan. This ship’s bombs are the most powerful in the game. The downside however, is the ship’s movement. Try flying around using your arrow keys. You’ll notice it’s really slow!
++PM: Shoot a bomb, you’ll notice your whole screen shake just from the power of this bomb if it explodes too close.
+Check if player has shot a bomb, follow suit with the 10-second message as previously used.
                      Else,
+Degrant Multifire from Player (just in case he spawns with it and has Multi-Fire on by default.
++PM: Now we’ll learn about MULTI-FIRE! To enable Multi-Fire, press the DELETE key, usually above your arrow keys. You’ll hear a sound when you activate it.
                      +grant player a Multi-Fire green.
++PM: Now that you have enabled your multi-fire, let’s use it! Press CTRL to shoot like you normally would. You’ll notice you have a bigger spread of bullets!
+Check if player has shot the amount of energy needed for a single-fire shot, and if that’s true, tell player to press the DEL key followed by another CTRL to do it.
+Check if player has shot the amount of energy need for multi-fire. If that’s true,
++PM: RNL Let’s keep going. The next ship is REALLY FAST! It’s called the Terrier, ship 5.

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 5
                      +setship 5
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 5
++PM: The terrier is really fast and versatile. Bounce around in here and goof off. I’ll get back to you in 30 seconds.
                      Wait 10 seconds
++PM: The terrier is the ship your teammates attach to. When you attach to a player, think of it as warping to your teammate.
++PM: You don’t have any teammates right now, so you can’t attach to them, nor can they attach to you.
                      Wait 10 seconds
++PM: You’ll notice you have two new items on the left side of your screen. The top one is called a Burst, and the bottom one is called a PORTAL, both very useful for the terrier.
                      Wait 10 seconds
++PM: Now that you’ve had some more fun, time to teach you how to use these things! To use a BURST, hold the SHIFT key and press the DELETE key.
+grant player a Burst, just in case s/he used it already
++PM: You’ll notice three bouncy bullets flying around now. In order for them to activate, they have to hit a wall first. These bursts are like L3 bullets, and kill players in 1 hit. So using this once can get you three kills!
++PM: To activate the PORTAL, hold SHIFT and press the INSERT key. You’ll notice a little target appear from where you just were. To warp to the target, press the warp key again, which is the INSERT key.
++PM: I’ll give you 15 seconds to catch up.

                      Wait 10 seconds

                      Phase 6
                      +setship 6
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 6
++PM: This ship is called Weasel, it’s ship number 6. This ship has the ability to cloak and go stealth, which means players cannot see you on their screen and they cannot see you on their radar.
++PM: You will see these abilities on the right-hand side of your screen. To activate Cloak, hold the SHIFT key and press HOME. You will notice it lights up, this means it’s active.
++PM: The icon below the Cloak icon is Stealth. To activate Stealth, tap the Home key. It will light up.
+Check if player’s energy is decreasing
++PM: You will notice your energy is being used up, so use these two abilities sparingly because you won’t be able to shoot! The Weasel has L3 bullets.
++PM: To deactivate Cloak, you would do the same as you were activating it. The same goes for Stealth. Press SHIFT+HOME to deactivate Cloak, and press HOME to deactivate Stealth.
++PM: You will know these two abilities are deactivated when they are not lit up.
++PM: Your energy will regenerate when they are deactivated. When your energy is back, enable your multi-fire (DELETE key) and shoot a bullet. You’ll notice you have a pretty big spread.
                      Wait 7 seconds
+check if player has shot a bullet. If false,
+check if player’s energy is below 1,000. If it is,
+++PM: You might have your cloak or stealth activated. Deactivate both and recharge your energy.
                      Else,
++PM: RNL We’re blasting through these tutorials! We’re almost finished. Next lesson is Ship 7, the Lancaster.

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 7
                      +setship 7
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 7
++PM: In the Lancaster, your main strongpoints are a very large bullet spray, and fast recharge. This allows you to shoot several times and cover a large range. I’m going to deactivate your multi-fire to show you what I mean.
                      +deprize player multi-fire
++PM: Now shoot. You have L2 bullets like you did in the Leviathan. Already you’ll notice you’re covering a decent range with single-fire, and you can shoot TWO of these at a time!
+check if player has shot two bullets
++PM: Now I’m going to give you multi-fire so you can see how much of an improvement you’ll have.
                      +prize player Multi-Fire
++PM: Press the DELETE key to activate Multi-Fire, and then shoot to see how much space you’ve covered with that shot.
                      +check if player has shot
++PM: RNL Great isn’t it? This is a very useful ship. A more useful one, coming up next is the Shark - Ship 8.

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 8
                      +setship 8
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 8
++PM: The shark is very useful for your team. The shark has the abilities on the left side of your screen, called a Repel, and on the right side you’ll notice it has the ability to use bombs as well.
++PM: As an added bonus, this ship has the ability to use MINES. This doesn’t have its own specific icon, but you’ll notice the icon for bombs doesn’t look the same as when you were in the Javelin.
++PM: To use a Repel, press the CTRL and SHIFT buttons simultaneously. You’ll notice a graphic display around your ship. This ability repels everything but your teammates.
+grant the player a Repel just in case he got antsy.
                      Wait 1 second
++PM: If an enemy has laid mines, or you notice a Bomb, Bullet, or Burst is coming at you, just use the Repel ability and it will repel them away from you and/or your teammates!
                      Wait 2 seconds
++PM: To use mines, hold the SHIFT button and press the TAB button as if you were shooting a bomb. You’ll notice a mine be placed where you shot it. Mines are stationary unless you lay them next to a Wormhole or if they are repelled by a shark.
+Check if player has layed a mine
++PM: RNL You’ve reached the end of the tutorials for ships! Next I want to teach you what the flag is.

                      Wait 2 seconds

                      Phase 9
++PM: If you finish the flag tutorial, which REALLY only takes about 15 seconds, I’ll reward you with a bomb that can go through walls!
                      +spec player
                      +unlock player
++PM: Enter the game as any ship to learn what the flag is. I placed you in spectator mode.
+check if player has entered a ship.
                      +warpto Player Value, Phase 9
++PM: Alright, you’ll notice that right below you, is a blue swirley ball. This is the flag. The object of the game in the public arena is to have control of this flag. To obtain control, simply fly over it!
++PM: You know your team has control over the flag when it is yellow.
+check if player has control of the flag
++PM: Congratulations! You’re finished! The bomb that can go through walls is called a THOR. You can press the F6 button to use it. You can only use this item once, and only in the public arena.
++PM: To get your Thor, go to the public arena and private message the bot that PMs you, with !thor
++PM: To get to the public arena, press the ESC key and hit the “A” key on your keyboard. You’ll see a list of arenas for Trench Wars!
++PM: The arenas at the top are the Publics. To choose what arena you’d like to go to, use the Page Up/Page Down keys, and you’ll see a red triangle next to the arena name.
++PM: When you have the triangle on the arena you want to go to, hit the Enter key.
++PM: When you have the Arena List closed, you can use the Page Up/Page Down keys to cycle through the player list of who’s in the arena.
++PM: This is how you attach to teammates and private message players. To private message them, press the FORWARD SLASH key, which is this one here /
++PM: Enjoy your stay in Trench Wars, and enjoy your once in a lifetime Thor!
                      • Players that are granted Thors have their IPs recorded and cannot get another thor using a different name.
                      • Have the TutorialBot communicate with the PubBot, allowing it to grant the player a thor when the command is issued, but only once.

I haven’t had a chance to re-read through it, it was all fast and furious typing, so anyone feel free to edit or add anything I might’ve missed.

we should make a subforum that includes all "population is declining" threads, including solutions to this problem

instead of explaining every ship, you also have to explain things such as Radar, Energy/Frequencies, Changing Arenas, Chats, Commands, Safe Tiles, Player List/Statistics List, Attaching and hell of a lot of more things, though with the help of lvz files (or objons) it should be an easy task.

then add to it, or after phase 9 have the bot explain he has additional tutorials and to PM it with !othertuts and he can choose to run the course or pick from the list

                            Phase 10 - Radar
                            Explain how coordinates work

Phase 11 - Frequencies (I already explained energy)
have the bot explain what a frequency is, how to change to it, and how to view it - also introduce statistic viewing

Phase 12 - Chats (I already explained Changing Arenas)
have the bot explain what a chat is, simple

                            Phase 13 - Commands
have the bot explain that the player can use !commands to the bot to see a full list of all the ? commands

                            Phase 14 - Safe tiles
have the bot warp the player to the middle, explain what the safe zone is

what you can do with lvz (if you really want to increase the download size) is have the bot *objon # for certain things the tutorial is pointing out, for instance the rockets part in phase 2 of my outline, you can have an image of an arrow pointing to the rocket on the left side, same thing for multi-fire, cloak, stealth, etc.
