I thought this thread was about one of your customers constantly alt-tabbing to a window of his honda accord to make sure it was right.

          i'm running xp pro sp3

typically i'll have winamp or maybe chrome and winamp open along with the client. however, since this started happening, i've been running the client by itself and i'm still getting the issue.

Some program is most likely stealing focus or wants to be on top.
Maybe a virus scanner that updates itself or something or something like that?

i'm insulted that anyone would think i'm actually that stupid

i've discovered this issue extends beyond subspace

it seems something is stealing focus from the top most application i have running

just now as i was typing this reply suddenly letters stopped showing up in the text area and i realized my browser window had lost focus

                  this is so weird

ran spybot and an avg scan

                  ran ccleaner

not sure what else to try

an easy way to fix it:

                    reformat your computer. :fear:

also playing this game full screen fails, just play windowed like I do!

That won't solve the problem. If a program steals the focus, Continuum won't react to your key strokes either.

                        Source: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/window...ingfocus01.htm

Prevent Programs From Stealing Focus in Windows XP Using Tweak UI
When a program steals focus, it will "pop up" in front of the window that you're currently working in on your computer. Windows XP is setup by default to prevent programs from stealing focus but this setting is sometimes changed when certain programs are installed.

Focus stealing is annoying and serves no purpose, unless you have a program that you want a full-screen interruption from on a random basis.

If programs are stealing focus from your current window, follow the instructions below to download, install, and use the Tweak UI program from Microsoft to stop this from happening any longer.

                        Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: Using Tweak UI to prevent programs from stealing focus usually takes less than 15 minutes.

                        Here's How:
                        1. Download Tweak UI from Microsoft. Scroll down the page and look for it on the right-hand side. Be sure to download the program to a location where you can easily find it, like your Desktop.

Note: Tweak UI is freely available software provided by Microsoft. Tweak UI is used to make a number of changes to your system that would otherwise require edits to the registry.
                        2. Double-click the downloaded file to install it. Follow the instructions provided during installation.
                        3. Navigate to Start, then All Programs (or Programs), then to the Powertoys for Windows XP folder.
                        4. Click on the Tweak UI shortcut.
                        5. In the Tweak UI program, click the + next to General on the left.
                        6. Click on Focus.
                        7. On the right, check the Prevent applications from stealing focus checkbox and then click the OK button.
                        8. From this point forward, programs should no longer steal the focus from the window that you're currently working in.

Your problem is AVG 9, I had it (1 week ago) and had the exact same problem.. AVG is sooo shit. I was on 8.5 and my computer was slow, so I dediced to upgrade it to the "faster" 9.0 version, BAD MOVE! I got this problem and a few more like crashing windows explorer everytimes a new .exe was opened, very pathethic for an AV that is supposed to help your system, .. sorry AVG, i'm going for Nod32.

I have thought about installing a different anti-virus software!

                              Grr!
