New Version of Subspace on a Mac

Hey Guys, I saw that my post from a year ago was a sticky and it is a CLOSED thread... BUT I have updated the Mac package to work with the new Mountain Lion OS (with a lot of other bug fixes)

This new Mac version so far looks to be 100% complete in my testing (tested on 10.6.8 and 10.8.2), here is a quick change log:

    - All zones work now (previously game would only enter trench wars)
    - Sound is working consistently!
    - SPEED, this version now works smooth whether in windowed mode OR fullscreen
    - older graphics supported now (previously GMA950 would show funny colors, slow etc)

Here is the link so everyone with a Mac can try it out: Continuum 0.40b Mac

    See you in the zones!

    - Matt

PS: Can anyone remove the sticky with the old link? New version is soooooo much better and feature complete...

Thank you Vaped!! Here's hoping Subspace lasts another 20 years! And for anyone using the Mac version, let me know if you run into problems... I still haven't found one from playing all day yesterday and for an hour today...

    http://wonko.com/post/how-to-run-continuum-on-a-mac

This is a great tutorial for a working version of Continuum on a MacBook Pro. I just bought the newest Retina yesterday and this version of Continuum is perfectly compatible with it. Personally, I see myself using this as a last resort if my other computer craps out, but it works like a charm and doesn't overheat the computer (my last cracked SS client burnt out the motherboard on my old Macbook after 4 years of overuse).

By the way, this should be sent to all players registered to the forum since I am positive there are players out there who have given up on trying to play SS on a Mac because they didn't think they were able to. You will see some players return simply because they received an e-mail notifying them that there is now a client they can use safely on their Mac.

Try with the Mac client from here http://www.trenchwars.org/index.php?v=downloads

make sure you get rid of the old client first, I suspect that article is out of date.

To run on El Capitan you have to update the wineskin from what I understand. Check here:

    1) Trash your current skin
    2) Check your IOS version (click on apple symbol - top left corner -> "about this mac"
    3) http://portingkit.com/en/ -> download new wineskin
    4) Drag the subspace icon into the wineskin
    5) Enjoy the game

I see. What OSX version are you using? I'm on the latest El Capitan and it works fine.

Also, try uninstalling continuum & reinstalling. Open the app w/o opening the wineskin and opening the app in the wineskin application. Once you put the app on the portingkit, it will run w/o needing to open the wineskin. Play around and let me know if this works.

    I use ElCapitan 10.11.6.

When I press play Continuum in Porting Kit, it asked me update Wineskin 2.5.8 to the recent 2.6.2. and after I press Yes to update, Porting Kit and Continuum become not responding
