    Agenda FAQ

    Q: Why add business to the agenda? Can't Council members bring it up in the meeting?
    A: Yes, you can make new motions in the meeting itself. However, adding business to the agenda first has several advantages:
    • Other Council members have a chance to read it, consider it, and discuss it outside of the meeting, making them more willing to vote on it when it comes up;
    • The public has a chance to read it and discuss it, which will indicate how they might expect Council to vote (and Council should represent the community to the best of its ability);
    • Your motion will be discussed before any new motions, when everyone's mind is still fresh and their patience in greater supply;
    • It's guaranteed to be discussed next meeting, as long as you show up;
    • It saves time during the meeting, as often a motion added to the agenda won't need much discussion, and can be put to a vote much more rapidly.

    Q: Can anyone add an item to the agenda?
    A: No, only members of Council may do so. However, players are welcomed and encouraged to recommend ideas and motions for Council members to add to the agenda. This forum is here just for that purpose. Let Council know what you want to see. Your best bet is to stay very focused on your idea and not degenerate off into a rant. Try to figure out exactly what you think should be done to change TW for the better.

    Q: How do I add an item to the agenda?

    A:
    • ?message, PM, or forum-PM the exact wording of the motion to the chairman -- at the time of the writing of this document, qan -- OR
    • Send a message but instead link a forum post; somewhere in the post you'll need to state the exact wording of your motion, being as precise as possible, and make it clear that this is what you want added to the agenda.

    Example: you post a general idea in a forum thread, ask for community input, and after some discussion, eventually decide on the exact wording of a motion that you want to propose. You post this motion in a new post and link the thread in a ?msg or PM.
