  • Trench Wars Premier League Season 1

For those who are tired of the existing leagues and would like to see something new this thread is to brainstorm that idea and see what Trench Wars can come up with collectively. Nothing said here is firm, all suggestions that could be modified. I also realize that this idea may not be popular with players who enjoy existing squad structures and only want to play with their friends. That and several other reasons may be why this idea will never move past this forum post.

    Trenchwars Premier League
8 Completely New Trench Wars Squads – new names, new rosters, new caps, new banners, new maps.
    - No ties to the past, squad name cannot have been used before.
    - Named to be donated by Continuum player base, original owner retains rights (provides name on semi-permanent loan - till squad is no longer active)
    - Names to be voted on by player base to select the final 8. (Vets be generous and use your inter zone connections to find the best names!)
    - Each squad to be active in all 3 leagues.
    - 0 double squadding in TWPL. No aliasing.

Capped by 16-24 Caps who have never capped together before. Eligible and interested caps to be voted on by the TW player base. Caps cannot dissolve squads; they can however leave or demote themselves. Inactive caps to be demoted to assistants based on activity or via squad vote. Cap selection to be made very carefully (players who have a long history of dissolving squads and hopping ineligible)

Redesigned TWD/TWL rosters to include new roles on squad such as “Recruiter”, “Mentor” “Players in Training” (no separate training squad). Every squad to have at least two staff members on it, and three new players. Websites such as TWD to be modified to accommodate new roles.

Players are to be selected and placed together ahead of time
(not necessarily completely by captains, likely by a well represented unbiased Trench Wars Premier League Council working in coordination with Caps)

Division of talent spread out among squads. In regards to basing this means that elite sharks, terrs etc. cannot squad together as we have a shortage and new ones have to be trained.
X amount of spots per squad in each league to be filled. Meaning you cannot have 5 elite extra javs, wbs, basers etc sitting on the roster period.

TWL and TWD stats to be studied ahead of time to ensure that talent is spread out based on 1. Activity (short and long term) 2. Skill 3. TWPL Council discussions

Currently we have 196 players who have played TWL this season, of that 75 have over 10 games, around 56 have more then 5. While this is a premier league it is to have a focus on benefiting the majority of players meaning its inclusive not exclusive. Squads won't be able to play the same X line every week during the regular season, one way to change this will be to have minimum 1 new addition per week in Jav and Warbird events and, and 2 in Basing.

    - Emphasis placed on dividing players up – can’t have any more than 10% of a former squad together on a roster. This must be done in order to freshen up the leagues.
    - Focus placed on getting games in on Sunday’s during offseason.
Squads to be created at the end of TWL season and to compete together in TWPL offseason in TWD league events – including short 1 month – 3-4 round cups in basing, javs and warbirds that run for 3-4 weeks and result in newly designated TWPL Cup Champions.
    - New leagues, newly designed maps
    - New Website (or simply do modifications to existing ones)
    - To be part of the league every squad must have some activity in pub, and retain/train at least 3 new players.
    - Emphasis based on building squad identity. Limited to no option to move squads during active league play.
    - TWPL once established to replace TWL and start at the same time TWL Season 21 would.
    - TWPL to be reassessed and improved on after season 1.

    Cap selection process:
Sketch for how the 8 squads can be developed....

Start by talking to Trench War’s existing TWL/TWD caps:

Trench Wars Current Captains (29 prospective TWLP Caps)

Paladen: J-B Inc Jessup Up in Ya !!
Potenza: Iron Survivor Madara Uchiha Okyo
    Cobra: Clark Kentaro Ricko Wax
    Burn: Racka Zidane
    Lego: DF Joemama Turban
    Vikings: Ison Jones Ravos
    Dudgeon: Dreamwin Zizzo
    Juans: John Juan Tom Juan
    You2be: Eren Fork
    Fierce: Apok Skepsis Everett
    24/7 BD: Raizin Stung Wazaa.NL

    - Find out how many of these 29 would be interested in capping a TWLP squad.
    - Find out how many of these are active and what role they play in their current squad capping.
    - Look for additional 15-45 candidates from existing player base.
    - Create a list based on interest in capping, activity and prior experience.
    - Balance out squads so they have a combination of vet caps and newer caps working together.
    - At least 25% (but ideally 50%) of the caps should be new ones not active in TWL season 21 and not the above list. This need to be done to freshen up the way the leagues are. Lots of assistants on squads currently contributing as quasi caps anyways. Lots of old players have held the role before and would make great candidates. Additionally we have a portion of newer players who would grow into the role.
Player base guided by TWPL council then chooses 16-24 caps for 8 new squads (2-3 per squad). No one on existing list can squad together – Jones will have to kiss Ison and Ravos goodbye. Tom Juan will finally get rid of John Juan, you get it. Everyone ends up in a new place. Those who are not interested in capping can participate as players.

You can't sit here and expect some new kid to become a captain overnight because he is forced on you in a league. Captainship is more than a title its about the respect you have from the players on your squad and the respect you have in the zone in general. What do you think is going to happen the first time XXX_Pubber29_XXX subs out some egotistical veteran for some "scrub". This entire idea is basically trying to do the same thing that having cap limits in twld was trying to do but mixed in with bad ideas from twdt. You can't change human nature and even though I haven't played in awhile I am pretty damn sure that the culture of the game hasn't changed in the least. Just wait for the first time the captaining team of Racka, JB Inc and Superpubber99 takes place. Superpubber is there, Racka is afk in the background, and Superpubber sets a lineup for a twd matchup. Ricko is like why the fuck am I not playing over Supernewbie33 and msgs Racka to login and sub out the newbie and then talks shit to Superpubber99 about losing games and being a giant faggot. And then JB Inc invites goddess to the chat and starts telling stories to everyone in the squad about the time her and Racka skyped together for 30 minutes 10 years ago and Racka is like ..... and then Superpubber99 is like fuck this this is gay as shit and leaves the squad.

The point is there are alot of weird faggots on this game that lots of people don't want to play with, and we don't have the population to pick and choose enough of the same types of players to squad together. Theres a reason theres like three good squads left, its literally survival of the least annoying faggots.

Good point Kthx. That's why Caps are experienced vets who want the role and want to be part of the new league. No one is forced.

The problem with this suggestion is it took you several paragraphs to explain, and me 15 mins to read & digest. Implementing something this contrived, as great as it may appear theoretically, is likely to fail at the 4th or 5th hurdle.

However I think you raise some good suggestions that could reinvigorate offseason, tired squad loyalties and competition. If we cut out some of the superfluous detail, this is my interpretation of what you said which I think could work in practice: Keeping the existing TWD structure, we have a panel of experts that divide the current player pool into 8 equal & active squads, with pre-assigned responsible captains, with an emphasis on mixing players from different existing squads.

If this is possible, I'd definitely be up for trialing this for a reset and seeing how it goes.
You come at the King, you best not miss.

Something similar like this can be implemented, but it is a lot of work and not easy to accomplish with our limited resources. It would require someone to lead the charge and make tons of changes by brute forcing things into the system, and even manually running a few aspects of it.

I would like to try to create some additional competitions, sort of like cup competitions, in the future when I return. However if someone else is interested in doing all the hard work, be my guest and I will support it with all my power.

Grab a piece of paper. Place a dot in the middle of it. Draw a small circle around the dot, and leave the rest open. The dot represents your knowledge. It's what you know. It is the limit of your mind's capacity. The circle around the dot is everything that you don't know - but you know that it exists. And the rest of the paper is everything that you didn't even know that you'd never know - that exists or has the potential to exist.

This thread is about discussing the possibility of the new league. That's it. What I suggested are recommendations. A more realistic practical version tightened version of this may be reachable.
The basis of this post comes from all the in game discussions and posts I have seen going on in past months from players on just about every squad. Most want a better league. Let's see what discussion comes up here. I think if the thread can't past silly jokes and barbs then things will remain as they always have. If this idea, generated a lot of interest and support and moved past being an idea I would be willing to help out in the development of the new league. Thanks to Turban again for putting in work with the existing league.

Keeping the existing TWD structure, we have a panel of experts that divide the current player pool into 8 equal & active squads, with pre-assigned responsible captains, with an emphasis on mixing players from different existing squads.
Yes that's the main points of the idea. It's not rocket science, and is attainable but will be influenced by how many of the active players and caps would like a new modified league.
