    Steam Progress Thread

Changelog of progress made on Steam.

    • All major zone files updated, resulting in no download when entering most zones for the first time. Will continue to expand and update.
    • Zone list updated to include all zones listed by the directory server.
    • Ship now defaults to WB rather than spectator.
    • First "Tip of the Day" now shows after first run with information on how to create a profile. (Before this tip would only show on 2nd run, meaning players were SOL if they couldn't figure out how to create a profile on their own.)
    • New users can now select a resolution. (A bug was preventing them from doing this on a fresh Steam install, if they had never installed Continuum via the non-Steam installer.)
    • Resolution defaults to a decent resolution for the user, and the profile doesn't override their selected menu resolution with 1024x768.
    • Engines Off by default.
    • Sound and music levels set to 3 to match volume levels found in other games by default. Might need to tweak this and raise it a bit, and include a tip for how to set it higher/lower with ?sound X and ?music X.
    • Sound quality defaults to highest.
    • 3D sound enabled by default.

    • Resolution now set to the current desktop res on install. Thanks to bkgmjo! for this. Pro AF.
    • Modern and Laptop keyboard configurations added. (See thread for details.)
    • Short installer added that allows users to select Modern or Laptop keyboard configs, or use default. (Again, thanks to bkgmjo!)
    • Variety of skins installed by default. HD remastering of Command Center (previous default) is now the default skin.
    • Help ticker (F6) updated to reference keys found in Modern and Laptop configs, and reordered slightly to be more useful to new players.

    • Optional graphics and sounds. These will not be loaded for anyone with a current installation who has a special graphic set already. Users maintain control over their graphics and updates will not overwrite them. However, if you were using default graphics, you will find that yours will have updated, and may wish to copy over the old graphics files.
      • Sounds are now the original but high-quality versions by default. Low-quality pack available off of the /sounds directory.
      • Bigbullets on by default. Normal bullets available in folder off of the /graphics directory.
      • The following graphics have been replaced with a remastered version: bg01-bg14, disp, hlthbar, over1-over4, radarh, radarv, repel, star07, warp.
