    Tells you about adding stuff like a "game controller" which has a built-in way of handling that. Unity doesn't give you as much control but I'm not yet aware of its limitations especially for a simple game such as an SS remake, SS2, or a copycat because of legal reasons. You don't want to spend 10x more time making a game that has the potential of being shut down by copyright when an easier way is quite available. You probably can't use THE SS spaceships or anything too similar but there is no way to copyright gameplay so as long as long as its cartoon soldiers throwing swords or maybe you can just get away with differently designed ships you know. However it seems there is no official development of this game by its owners whoever they are so they are just sitting on an intellectual property and preventing further innovation and enterprise.
