HOW DO YOU CONTROL YOUR SPACE SHIP? with what fingers do you control what with?! for myself...

Right Hand (Always):
Pointer - Left Arrow
Middle - Up/Down Arrow
Ring - Right Arrow
Pinky - Insert

Bomber Ships (Left Hand):
Ring - L.Shift (Thrust)
Pinky - L.Ctrl (Gun)
Middle - Tab (Bomb)

Fighter Ships (Left Hand):
Middle - R.Shift (Thrust)
Pointer - R.Ctrl (Gun)

If I'm retreating/running (Left Hand):
Thumb - R.Shift
Middle - F7


NOW HOW DORKY DO U LOOK LIKE TO OTHERS WHEN PLAYIN THIS GAME HUH?

Left hand:
Thumb - Left Ctrl (Guns)
Index finger - Left Shift (Thrust)
Middle finger - Tab (Bombs)
Third eye - Transcending the physical plane.

Right hand:
Thumb - 0 Keypad (Warp)
Index finger - 4 Keypad (Left)*
Middle finger - 8 Keypad (Forward)
Ring finger - 6 Keypad (Right)

* Moves to Keypad 2 for going backwards.

Bomb: Gamepad 4
Thrust: Gamepad 1
Mine: Gamepad 2
Attach: Left Gamepad trigger
Repel: Right Gamepad trigger

Everything else: reach over and hit the keyboard

right hand: same as usualy on the arrow keys. pinky on insert 0 key.

left hand: thumb on control. pointer on shift. middle on tab. middle also goes up to the function keys.

unless im using a ship with rockets in trenchwars usually a jav.. then middle left finger goes to f3 and pinky goes to tab.

both hands: pointer of right hand on J. pointer of left on f. used for talking trash.

I use the number keypad for flying. I find it lets my hand lie in a more relaxed position than the more compact arrow keys. I only fly sharks so I keep my left index finger on tab and my thumb on shift for thrust, ready to drop down to press ctrl as well to repel. Because I don't use bullets, the ctrl key isn't used as often as for others.

All my specials such as thors, bricks, and rockets are on the numpad, including attaching which lies within comfortable reach of my right pinky while the rest of the hand uses the directional keys.
My backslash key is tucked away to the right of my right shift key so it is my designated bomb button, which also lets me fly any ship with the right hand side shift, and ctrls without any awkward hand postions for tab and such.
It's hardly a keyboard designed by Ikea. My right directional key busted late last year and is now super sensitive to the slightest depress of my finger. And the shift key is a little buggered so 5/100 repels or mines never work and end up disastrous.

insert 0 = pinky

ring is on ctrl
middle is on shift
for jav my ring moves back and forth between tab and ctrl

Two Middle fingers (Shift - Boosting)
Fore-finger (Cntrl - Shooting)

Right Hand
First three fingers - (Arrows - Steering)
Ring Finger - (Num7Num8 Stealth and Cloak)
Pinky - (Num0 Bomb, Num1 Warp, Num2 Burst, Num4 Portal)

That allows me to warp, burst, portal, or bomb all in one swift stroke of my right hand ^_^

I am really surprised by this thread I thought everybody played the same way but I am even more surprised nobody has said they play the way that I do

right hand:

arrow keys and pinky on 0 for insert

left hand for warbird:

index finger on shift thumb on ctrl

left hand for jav:

thumb on shift, index finger on tab and the thumb controls the ass bullets

middle - arrows - forward and back (port/burst/multifire/cloak)
