  • Customizing your keyboard settings

I wonder whan kind of custom keyboards settings you guys use. For example, I use:

    PageUp: Attach
PageDown: Rocket (I often use a jav.)
Num -: Ticker (nick list) goes up
    Num +: Ticker goes down

The goal in my settings is to get rid of the F keys, because they are not well placed and slows down, IMO. For example, if you need a thor, you need it now - not 10 ms later; so no time for looking at your keyboard searching the F6 button.

    Space- Attach
    Z- Mine
    X- Burst
    C- Rep

That's about it for the differen settings I made. I think V might be thor or something, but I don't remember.

Heh, I didn't know that the W/A/S/D keyboard layout would be used on SS

I played Quake2 for abit, and I first used the W/A/S/D layout.

But theres a major problem with this layout: if you lost your fingers positions, you have to either:
          • Look at your keyboard to replace your fingers. In the meantime, you can be attacked.
          • Try to figure out by yourself without looking. It takes time, tho :/

So heres a vital hint: move your W/A/S/D layout to use R/D/F/G.

The reason? There is a small bump on the F key. (This is usually used with keyboard typing techniques) So you can quickly locate your keys faster while looking the screen all the time.

This has been thoroughly discussed in a previous thread. However ... DEFAULT KEYS OWN YOU!!! ... who needs to change what works?

Can we get off of these heights that compel us to tell other people that these topics have been discussed ad nauseum on previous threads? Firstly, if they were so "thoroughly discussed" people wouldn't still want to discuss them. Secondly, and I'm sure people have seen this recently on these forums, people posting on ages old threads has been annoying, leading to these threads being closed. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see a new thread discussing something that hasn't been discussed in months than someone bumping up an old one that few remember well. Thirdly, this community continues to grow by the day. To expect that all 1750 and counting members to be up-to-date on older threads is unrealistic and rather elitist.

And I use the default settings as well.

No need to be so sensative TK ... and I think most ppl would say this has been discussed rather thoroughly ... the topic went on fro several pages ... and was discussed by many players.

But it's hardly needed to point out that it's been done before. If most people know it's been posted before, then we don't need it pointed out either. It's just another way of saying "You're newer than I am", like comparing post counts.

It's definitely needed to point out that this thread has been discussed so that the original poster can go back and look for that thread and hopefully that will satisfy his reading. If not ... THEN he should post again reiterating the fact that he has already read the previous thread. It's only common sense/courteous to do such a thing.

And I'm not trying to act all high and might y bc I myself am quite new to forums/tw ...

Btw Bilange does in fact have more posts than me so your "# of post comment" doesn't really apply to me ...
